What Does It Mean To Be A Volunteer Coach?

NFSC relies on our Parents/Volunteers to assist in coaching their child's House League team each Summer in order for things to move smoothly!

The commitment of coaching a team differs depending on the age group, but all ages need a parent from each team.

Below are some of the things a parent coach would need to help out with during the season:

U3/4 or U5/7 - In this age group, we have Club-appointed Activity Leaders or "Program Leaders" as we call them,  to run the session for all players on the field. These are Certified Coaches from our Club that have planned sessions laid out for each week.  This means that Soccer skills and knowledge aren't a necessary requirement in this case.  Just your willingness to help and your positive attitude is required!!  You will only need to assist once a week on Saturday mornings during your child's session.

U7 and Up - Players who are 7 and older play actual games meaning that we are looking for Coaches to manage game days and run one practice a week. Now, this might seem daunting, but we at the Club give you all of the tools you need in order to run fun practices and make sure you are not overwhelmed. Our Club Director/Technical of Grassroots, Vince Stranges, regularly sends out session plans giving you ideas for practices and cutting down the work you need to do.  You can also find extremely useful practice plans on the Ontario Soccer website via this link!  On top of this, you get to pick your team's practice time meaning that it will work around your schedule!

Every year we have some teams that will have 2 or even three Coaches who rotate for the season meaning that the commitment is minimized for those of you who can't commit to every week!

If you are interested in Coaching your child for the 2023 Outdoor House League season, please indicate below and fill out a coaching form at your earliest convenience!

COACHES WILL ALSO RECEIVE A 30% REIMBURSEMENT AT THE END OF THE SEASON ON THEIR CHILD'S REGISTRATION AS A THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!!

Respect In Sport Parent Program

Click Here to Begin the Respect in Sport for Parents Program

New this season we are making Respect in Sport mandatory for at least one parent of each child. This has been put in place along with our Parent Code of Conduct to help ensure everyone has a fun and inclusive experience whether that be a player, coach, referee, or spectator!

If you have never done the Respect in Sport program it is a one-hour-long, online course, that is geared to help parents understand the point of view of match officials, coaches and more. We recommend that you make sure that you know your Respect in Sport ID before starting the registration. If you have done this for another sport, this needs to be transferred to soccer. You can transfer pre-existing Respect In Sport certificates that you may have already done with another sport, check the validity, check your ID and complete the course for the first time through the link found HERE

If already have a valid Respect in Sport activity leader ID, you do not need to complete the Parent program as the Activity Leader program has much of the same content as the parent one, as well as extra content.

*If you are planning on coaching, you will need to complete the Respect in Sport Activity Leader program*

Thank you so much for all doing your part to make soccer a safer and more inclusive place FOR ALL!
